Vasili Smirnov is a Russian Post-war & Contemporary artist and an accomplished portrait painter. His style remains wholly influenced by his 6-year training at the famed St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts. Graduating with Full Honours in 2001, Smirnov taught art in St. Petersburg before embarking on his career as a freelance artist. Renowned as a portrait painter, Smirnov’s paintings also include exquisite examples of ‘trompe l’oeil’. Exhibitions have previously been held in Hamburg, Helsinki, St. Petersburg & London and his paintings hang in private collections worldwide – including Estonia, USA, France, Finland, Holland, Japan, Spain & the UK.
