Sir Anthony Hopkins

Sir Anthony Hopkins CBE is one of Britain’s most recognizable and prolific actors. He is known for his performances on the screen and stage – of which he has received numerous accolades including two Academy Awards, four BAFTA Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Laurence Olivier Award.

Hopkins, brought his art to the world for the first time in 2005 – It was his wife Stella who first got him to paint after seeing his drawings in the margins of his scripts…

Now, his art studio is filled to capacity with various paints, oils, acrylics, tempera bottles, pens, markers, brushes, canvases – all a riot of color and possibility.

“… I paint freely…… I love bright, bright colors. That’s the part I like. I paint these faces. I’m influenced by people like Oskar Kokoschka and Francis Picabia…… I experiment with oils and acrylics and ink and just mix it altogether. Painting is something I really enjoy, like playing the piano. I have a lot of fun with it. I just paint for the sheer enjoyment of it. ”
