HM Queen Victoria

(1819 - 1901)

One of the great attractions between Queen Victoria and Prince Albert was their shared love of art.

Both had been taught to paint and draw as children and while Prince Albert's talent in this field was far more sophisticated than that of his wife, Victoria's drawings became greatly in demand within her family and friends. Victoria's first lesson was at the age of eight for one hour a week and by the age of ten, she produced some signed drawings which were given to her mother, the Duchess of Kent. Belgravia Gallery is delighted to offer this fine collection, which belonged to Georgiana, The Duchess of Sutherland (1806 - 1868), Queen Victoria's closest friend and confidante.
