Andy Warhol

American artist, film director and producer Andy Warhol created some of the most iconic images of our generation. After rising to fame in the late 1950s he began experimenting with silk screen printing, which led on to his most archetypal representations of everyday American objects such as the Campbell’s soup can. Although he described his approach as ‘machine-like’, his work was far from uniform. He created a vast legacy of pieces, reinventing the same images and themes again and again. The result was a stream of 20th Century pop art that continues to define this era in American culture.
