Nikolai Romanov was born in Pushkin near St. Petersburg in 1957. He graduated from the Art College of V.A. Serov in 1980 and subsequently graduated from the Academy of Fine Art with a prestigious Silver Medal in painting.

Romanov has been a member of the Union of Russian Artists since 1990. His work has been shown in more than 100 exhibitions in Russia and many other countries. His works are in the State Museum of Art in Ivanovo (Russia), in the Museum of Academy of Art (St. Petersburg) and also in many private collections of Russia, USA, Portugal, France, Germany, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Spain, New Zealand, Australia, Greece, Chile, Austria and the UK.
