THREE ORIENTAL FIGURES (JACOB AND LABAN)

This is a fine impression in excellent condition with 4 to 5mm margins and plate tone. The reversal of the signature and date in the plate prints backwards.

This subject used to be called “Three Oriental Figures”, but is also known as “Jacob and Laban”, an Old Testament subject. Jacob’s father-in-law may be trying to distance Jacob from returning to Canaan with his wife and children (Genesis 30:25-30).
