About This Work

B. 118 – THREE ORIENTAL FIGURES (JACOB AND LABAN)

The reversal of the signature and date in the plate prints backwards.

This subject used to be called “Three Oriental Figures”, but is also known as “Jacob and Laban”, an Old Testament subject. Jacob’s father-in-law may be trying to distance Jacob from returning to Canaan with his wife and children (Genesis 30:25-30).
