About This Work

HM King Charles III (formerly known as His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales) lived at Highgrove House, Gloucestershire since the early 1980s. He had painted views of it and the surrounding gardens throughout the seasons. This picture contrasts the freely painted trees and a field in front of the house with the carefully observed classical proportions of the architecture. An elegant cedar tree towers behind the house.
“Highgrove is still very much my own garden, and so, I feel enormously fortunate to have had the opportunity, while in this life, to contribute to what I hope has been the enhancement of one small corner of this ancient land” HRH The Prince of Wales, The Garden at Highgrove
