Vintage Prints of the works of Matisse printed in Verve Magazine. Lithography by Mourlot Frères. In 1954, Henri Matisse took an active role in directing and supervising the first ‘pulls’ of these lithographs. His collaboration with the esteemed lithographers Mourlot Frères of Paris ensured that the prints captured the essence of his original cutouts. They hold a special place in art history, distinct from later reproductions or modern posters. Their authenticity lies in the close supervision by Matisse himself, making each piece a testament to his artistic spirit.

This vibrant gouache paper cut-out design was originally commissioned as a stained-glass window for a memorial. It features stylised blue and green ivy foliage, which symbolises immortality, loyalty, and affection.
