About This Work

Born in 1943, Barry Martin studied at Goldsmith’s College, University of London and St Martin’s School of Art.
A film on his work was made by the Central Office of Information in 1970 and he published many articles on contemporary paintings and sculpture. He has had numerous one man shows since 1968 including an exhibtion at the Arts Council and also at the Serpentine Gallery.

Barry Martin became the most versatile and prolific British exponent of Kinetic Art in London in the Swinging Sixties and early 190s. Kinetic Art offered a European alternative to the Anglo-American options of Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism.

This print comes from a series of 16 created by artist members of the Chelsea Arts Club for the club’s centenary in 1991. All prints in this series are signed by the artist and numbered.
