Anna Hunter – Art Dealer, Gallery Founder & Philanthropist

Anna Hunter is a British art dealer and the founder of Belgravia Gallery, a respected fine art gallery and advisory service originally established in London. She has been a prominent figure in the international art world for over three decades, building a business that combines expert art curation with a strong commitment to charity and community impact.

Anna began her professional journey after completing her education — she studied Economics and Politics at the University of Bristol, where she also developed an early interest in social improvement and community engagement, themes that would later influence her charitable work.

A Career in Art & Community

In 1986, Anna founded what would become Belgravia Gallery in London, initially focusing on publishing limited edition, signed lithographs by established Royal Academicians. Her business acumen and passion for art soon led to a breakthrough collaboration with HRH The Prince of Wales (now King Charles III): she approached him with the idea of publishing his watercolours as fine art lithographs, which were printed at Curwen Studios and sold internationally. This initiative raised more than £4 million for the Prince’s Charitable Foundation and significantly raised the profile of her gallery.

Over the years, Belgravia Gallery expanded its scope. Under Anna’s leadership, the gallery has represented and exhibited a broad range of artists — from modern masters like Picasso and Warhol to contemporary talents — and has organised exhibitions and sales in major art centres around the world.

Making a Difference Through Art

Anna has always emphasised a personalised, approachable ethos in the gallery’s work, helping collectors, interior designers, and art lovers find pieces that suit their tastes and environments. This bespoke advisory service remains a core part of the gallery’s mission.

Tragedy struck Anna’s family in 2001 with the death of her son Sebastian at age 18. In his memory, she founded The Sebastian Hunter Memorial Trust in 2002, dedicating significant effort and gallery-raised funds to support educational and livelihood initiatives in underserved communities in Tamil Nadu, South India. Through the Trust, projects such as Seb’s School and other programmes continue to empower children and families by improving access to education and sustainable opportunities.

Anna now runs Belgravia Gallery alongside her daughter, Laura Walford, continuing to champion both artistic excellence and charitable impact. The gallery moved from its original London Belgravia and Mayfair locations to a picturesque setting in the Surrey Hills, where Anna and her team continue to welcome clients and curate meaningful art experiences.
